Nickelodeon September Highlights

Sunday, September 6, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT) Nick News with Linda Ellerbee $TRE$$ED OUT! The Economic Crisis and You (#110)
• Recession. Foreclosure. Layoff. Financial Crisis. Panic on Wall Street. World Economic Meltdown. To some kids, these may be nothing more than words they hear in passing. To other kids, these are words that have drastically changed their lives during the last year. According a recent study from the Scarborough Kids Internet Panel (S.K.I.P) of kids 13-17, three-quarters (74%) said that they are worried about the economy and almost one quarter (23%) said they are "very" worried. The real fall-out from this crisis is STRESS. As one little girl says, "What affects parents affects kids, and when parents are stressed, kids are stressed." And right now parents are stressed. In the special, award-winning host Linda Ellerbee and psychologist Dr. Jeff Gardere listen to group of kids from across the country who represent the spectrum of struggles this crisis raises. The kids are incredibly honest about their feelings, and their genuine pain. Linda and the psychologist — and the kids — offer some suggestions and coping strategies. The goal of this special is to let kids know that they are not alone, and that what happening is not their fault. But it's a special no parent should miss, because these kids are saying things all parents need to hear during these tough times.

Tuesday, September 8, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT) “Get Schooled: You Have the Right” Featuring President Obama, Kelly Clarkson and LeBron James
• The 30-minute special will be simulcast on all Viacom cable properties, including BET, CMT, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, MTV, TV Land and Spike, and will appeal to a diverse audience in all demographics. The audience will get to experience how applying ones self during the first 20% of their life in school will greatly affect the remaining 80% of their life.

Inspiring viewers through real life examples, this documentary special will focus on three very different people who have risen to the top of their fields and are working side by side with three of the most talented people in the world. A key element of the documentary will be the dynamic between each of these pairs. Each coupling will consist of one household name who introduces the viewer to our story, but it is the other person, the one we don’t know, who will be our narrator and guide. It is through this person that we learn firsthand how education has improved their life and has gotten them to a place where they have the knowledge, the skills and the experience to work with and be respected by the household name.

Set against a forward moving story, each of the three sets of people will have to work together to accomplish a professional goal. Viewers will see how education shaped our protagonists and made them the successful people they are today. In addition, flashbacks will depict key educational moments that prepared our “Schooled Ones” for their careers and greatly influenced their lives.
