His mother puts up a fight for the house, until she's offered $250,000 for it, but Cliff can't let his home go for any price. They ultimately decide they have a lot in common and promise to help each other through this trying time. 11:30AM 177 - Two Girls for Every Boyd It's another typical day at the bar, and the subject matter is masculinity, as Cliff brags to Sam, Frasier, and Norm about the amazing beard-growing prowess of the Calvin men. Their own manhood questioned, the guys challenge each other to a beard-growing contest. Meanwhile, Woody is thrilled to have landed the lead role in the play "Our Town." There's just one problem. He is unable to make the required love scene seem real. So when his co-star suggests a little improvisation in the bar's back room, Woody jumps at the chance only to be interrupted in the midst of an embrace by his unsuspecting girlfriend Kelly. As Kelly storms off, Woody declares his love for her - and resolves his acting block. Cheers bearded barflies are running neck and neck in the contest, with the exception of Cliff, who trails far behind. The ever-confident Clavin still threatens a shutout. And on judgement day, his prediction comes true, aided by an overnight growth spurt. 12:00PM 178 - The Art of the Steal Norm rounds Woody, Cliff, and Frasier for a game of Monopoly in hopes of teaching Woody the principles of economics and inflation. However, she herself is surprised when Sam arrives at the apartment instead, bearing a message from Robin and finding her naked and aroused. Angry and humiliated, Rebecca accidentally arms the penthouse security system, trapping the two of them for the rest of the night. Sam and Rebecca exchange confidences until they fall asleep. At dawn, they are finally released from their confinement when the maid disarms the system. 12:30PM 180 - Sam Ahoy When Woody asks for some time off, the Cheers gang learns of his dedicated efforts to help those who are less fortunate. When Robin agrees, Sam recruits Carla and Norm to be his crew and they set about planning their strategy. Despite Sam's noble efforts, "The Rebecca" holds dead last throughout the race. The crew runs out of refreshments, and Norm raids Robin's reserve, only to discover a live bomb and a note threatening Robin's life. The crew makes it back to the bar in one piece, while "The Rebecca " is strewn all over the harbor. At the bar, Robin offers the troopers some money to cover the risk they bravely underwent. But Sam's outrage and principles force him to turn it down, collectively - much to the rest of the crew's dismay. 1:00PM 185 - Woody or Won't He? The corporate office has a gift for Cheers - a mechanical bull from one of their Texas bars. No one wants to use it, until the gang goads Cliff into saddling up to prove he's a man. Business is booming as patrons flock to the bar to see him still riding the mechanical bull. Apparently it has malfunctioned and cannot be turned off. The crowd's cheers nearly drown out Cliff's cries for help. Meanwhile, Woody finally meets Kelly's mother, Mrs. Gaines, who turns out to be a stunning and very flirtatious woman. She furtively pursues Woody at Kelly's sister's wedding. Woody consults Sam, who tells him to just ignore it. Fed up, Woody blurts out that he will not have sex with her, in front of a table full of Kelly's relatives. It's actually a proposition. 1:30PM 186 - Severe Crane Damage Lilith appears on a woman's talk show to promote her first book. Frasier asks Sam to join him in the audience to provide moral support, but the two of them end up as guests when the discussion gets out of hand. In order to spice up the show, the host manipulated Lilith into labeling Frasier as a "good boy" and Sam as a "bad boy." After the two men describe their dating styles, the women in the audience go crazy over Sam, chanting for him to take it "off." Feeling dull and undesirable, Frasier sets off to prove he's not just a "good boy." He can "take a walk on the wild side" and be a "bad boy" too. Frasier's quest leads him to a brief encounter with a female biker named "Viper." 2:00PM 187 - Indoor Fun With Sammy and Robby Rebecca's plans for a romantic day with Robin are ruined when he opts to spend the day in a game of one-upmanship with Sam. When Robin arrives, Sam challenges him to a game of darts and a seemingly never-ending game of one-upmanship between the two rivals ensues. To Rebecca's dismay, Robin and Sam continues their obsessive competition throughout the day, ruining all of her well-laid plans for romance. The gang attempts to secretly help Sam win the final game, a chess match, but their plan malfunctions and Sam is left on his own. The trip was arranged by her father in an attempt to make her forget about Woody, while Woody laments the loss of his true love, Sam tells him he should proclaim his feelings to Kelly. The two ultimately decide that it would be best to hold off on marriage, and instead become secretly engaged so that they will still share a bond while they are apart 3:30PM 127 - Paint Your Office Having run up a tab of nearly nine hundred dollars, Norm is unceremoniously told he can no longer "charge" his beers. However, Rebecca decides he can work off his tab by painting her office, where they have a chance to get to know each other, and Norm discovers she's really a nice person. When Sam finds out that Norm's been asked to help paint parts of her home, he insists on going along in the hopes that Rebecca will warm up to him, too. When Norm is called away for a family crisis, Samand Rebecca are left alone. He misinterprets a comment she makes about changing clothes as a possible invitation, and is surprised when she returns in jogging clothes, prepared for a run. Realizing that it's all been an attempt by Sam to make a move on her, Rebecca throws him out of her house, paintbrush and all. 4:00PM 225 - The Norm Who Came to Dinner Norm is excited to go to work painting Frasier and Lilith's living room-but his excitement is dampened when he discovers that Frasier is a frustrated home-improvement junkie. Frasier constantly supervises Norm's work, offering handy hints he learned watching "This Old House." Norm tolerates this until Frasier demands that Norm stand on the dangerous -looking step of a ladder. When Norm refuses, Frasier pushes him out of the way and scrambles to the top to paint the ceiling. Unfortunately, he missteps and falls, landing on top of Norm. Norm has a bruised disk as a result of the accident, and his doctor advises him not to aggravate the injury by moving. Since Vera is out of town, a guilty Frasier suggests that he and Lilith take care of Norm until she returns. Lilith reluctantly agrees and Norm assumes a permanent position on the Crane's couch. His recuperation drags on, and soon Lilith is waiting hand and foot on Norm. When the gang leave the bar to congregate with Norm in Lilith's living room, she realizes she must take a stand before they ruin her home. Back at the bar, Rebecca accepts Carla's challenge to carry a raw egg around for three days to prove she will be a good mother. 4:30PM 200 - Grease Norm is shattered when he discovers that his favorite eating establishment, The Hungry Heifer, is marked for demolition. After wallowing in depression over the loss of his home away from Cheers, he becomes inspired and takes to the streets to drum up support for "greasy spoon." Pounding the pavement pays off, and Norm collects enough signatures to file a petition at City Hall. He is thrilled to discover that The Hungry Heifer can be declared a roadside landmark, and makes plans to surprise the owner, by making the announcement at the restaurant's farewell dinner. Norm's news, however, does not thrill Sid. The developers were going to pay him three times what his restaurant's worth, and years of serving greasy food are starting to weigh in on his conscience. Unable to tell her mother no, Carla presents the situation to her children to see if one will voluntarily take the name. All refuse at first, but when Gino hears that Mussolini ran the whole country of Italy and has the really cool nickname of II Duce, he volunteers. Carla sets Gino straight on his history and returns to her mother's deathbed just in time. She tells Mama Lozupone that Gino has taken the name. Initially, seeking his little girl with Sam doesn't seem to bother Hill, but by the time dessert is served he breaks down. Begging Sam to stop seeing his daughter, Hill promises to let Sam use the poolroom and bathrooms rent-free. A joyous Sam returns to the bar to tell everyone of his success. The gang reminds him that he must break it off with Pamela, which Sam does easily, until he realizes that he really likes her. Following his heart, he invites her to go away for the weekend with him anyway without telling her father. Unfortunately, she stops briefly in the ladies' room and leaves her suitcases in the bar just as her father comes down from Melville's. Realizing that he can't hide any longer, Sam admits to Hill that he is still going to see his daughter. When Hill accepts it calmly, trusting his daughter's judgement, Pamela realizes that she was only attracted to Sam because her father didn't want her to be. But the gang coldly fills him in on the fact that, contrary to what he believes, they have lives too. Rebecca has married Don, Woody has been sworn in to the City Council, Cliff and Norm have a new government job and Frasier has reconciled with Lilith. They all leave the bar, leaving Sam alone. But a moment later return to tell Sam that their coldness was a well-deserved joke. They stay at Cheers until the wee hours, smoking cigars and talking about their lives. Norm is the last to leave, and before he goes, he reminds Sam that Cheers is the one thing that he has in life that he loves the most. Sitting alone in his bar, Sam finally realizes how lucky, and happy, he truly is.
