Ruby is sad but realistic but Max doesn’t want the feeling to end, so he confiscates the Christmas ornaments and creates a makeshift Christmas tree in Ruby’s room so it can still be “Christmas!” • It’s New Year’s Eve and Grandma has invited Max & Ruby to stay with her and watch the new year come in. Ruby is so concerned with staying awake that she contrives all kinds of games for them to play, and in the end both she and Grandma are fast asleep by the time the clock strikes midnight, leaving Max alone to wake them up with “Happy New Year!” Tuesday, December 1, at 11:00 a.m. Max & Ruby #51 “Max Saves the Parade/Max's Big Kick/Ruby's Horn of Plenty” • Ruby and Louise are making a float for their dollies for the Fall Fun Festival Parade. Max and Roger are making a car for the Cool Car Cavalcade. In the end, the Cool Car is the perfect way for the girls and the dollies to be in the parade. “Vroom vroom!” • Ruby and Louise are determined to make the most beautiful picture out of leaf rubbings, using a leaf from each of the trees in their backyard. Meanwhile Roger is keeping Max busy by teaching him how to kick a field goal. The girls get frustrated when Max’s football keeps landing on or near their project. But when they just need one more maple leaf to make their project complete, Max and his football come to the rescue. • It’s fall, which means it’s time for the harvest. Ruby is prepared to harvest all the yummy vegetables that are ripe from the garden. And she enlists Max’s help to set aside the most beautiful of the vegetables for her “Horn of Plenty” table decoration. Unfortunately, Max is unable to resist the temptation and by the time Ruby goes to start creating her horn of plenty, it’s a horn of empty! Wednesday, December 2, at 11:00 a.m. Max & Ruby #50 “Ruby's Good Neighbor Report/Candy Counting/Ruby's New Shoes” • Ruby is collecting stories from members of the community for her Good Neighbor Badge. But it’s hard to get an accurate count when you’ve got a little brother who keeps interrupting when he thinks he’s helping. • Ruby wants to buy some new shoes at the shoe sale in the department store and Max wants to meet "Super Bunny!," who's making a personal appearance there. As Ruby keeps searching for the perfect pair of shoes, Max thinks he's going to miss his chance, until the day is saved for both of them thanks to "Super Bunny!' Thursday, December 3, at 11:00 a.m. Max & Ruby #47 “Max's Balloon Buddies/Ruby's Penny Carnival/Ruby's Big Win” • Ruby can't wait to see all the gorgeous flowers at the Flower Festival, but first Max sees Mr. Huffington making balloon animals, and he wants a "Balloon!" A series of accidents causes Max's balloons to burst, so they have to return to Mr. Huffington. By the time they finally get to the flowers, the festival is closing, so Ruby thinks she won't see any gorgeous flowers, until Max gets Mr. H to make a beautiful flower out of a "balloon!" • Ruby, Louise and Valerie are setting up a penny carnival in the backyard to earn money for a Bunny Scout field trip. Max keeps getting in the way with a monster mask, his toys bats and spiders and other things that are “Scary!” Ruby asks Max to get his icky toys out of the way, but when the carnival gets going, the biggest line-up is for the monster house Max has created, because every bunny loves things that are “Scary!” • Max and Ruby are at the Fun Fair, and Ruby wants to win the basketball toss because the prize is a goldfish. According to the US Humane Society, nearly half of the cats and dogs that enter US shelters will be euthanized, not because they are “damaged goods” but simply because the shelters are overcrowded. In this special, Nick News interviews real kids and celebs who have adopted/rescued homeless animals for pets or found some other way to help these animals, either by going to shelters to care for them, raising money for shelters, or by writing letters to their local politicians.
