Nicktoons Network Brings 'The Ren & Stimpy Show' Back to TV in August 2005

Nicktoons Network Brings Cult-Hit 'The Ren & Stimpy Show' Back to Television Beginning August 2005

The Original Series 'The Ren & Stimpy Show' from Animator John Kricfalusi to Air Daily on Nicktoons Network

LOS ANGELES, July 5 -- Oh, Joy! Nicktoons, Nickelodeon's 24- hour animation network, announced today that Ren, the one and only ornery asthma-hound Chihuahua, and his gullible feline sidekick, Stimpy, is back on kids' television for the first time since 2002. Upholding their tradition of crude and rude misadventures from original creator, John Kricfalusi, The Ren & Stimpy Show will premiere on Nicktoons Network beginning July 30, 2005 at 9:30 p.m./ET.

Nicktoons Network will present all 3 seasons of the original series. The show is scheduled to air weekdays on Nicktoons at 11:30 p.m. ET and weekends from 11:00 a.m. -- 12:00 p.m. ET with two back-to-back episodes.

"We're thrilled to add the cult classic, Ren & Stimpy, to our air," said Keith Dawkins, Vice President and General Manager, Nicktoons. "The show is timeless because it combines great style, great humor and a truckload of attitude. We're excited about bringing this original Nicktoon back to our audience. Ren & Stimpy represents the type of bold, experimental, creator driven animation that Nicktoons and our Nicktoons studio is all about."

Hailed by the press as post-modern animation zaniness, with the influence of The Three Stooges and the anarchic chucklehead spirit of the classic Warner Bros. Looney Tunes from the 40's and 50's, The Ren & Stimpy Show features a mismatch made in animation heaven. Ren, a scrawny, temperamental, passionate and headstrong Chihuahua, and Stimpy, a loyal, brave and trusting feline get into impossible situations and occasionally exhibit gross behavior. Launched on Nickelodeon in 1991, The Ren & Stimpy Show earned an Emmy nomination in 1993.

In addition to The Ren & Stimpy Show, John Kricfalusi's credits include work on The New Jetsons, The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse and the Rolling Stones video Harlem Shuffle. The series is produced by Spumco, Inc.; Kricfalusi serves as creator/producer/director.
