“SUPER MILLIONAIRE,” WITH HOST REGIS PHILBIN, RETURNS TO THE ABC TELEVISION NETWORK ON SUNDAY, MAY 16
Five-Night Event Once Again Features a Fabulous $10 Million Top Prize
“Super Millionaire,” the super charged version of the original hit series “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” returns as a special five-night event on SUNDAY, MAY 16 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. The incomparable Regis Philbin hosts the series in which contestants have a chance to win $10 million.
“Super Millionaire’s” February premiere on ABC’s primetime schedule drew an average audience of 17.5 million viewers to rank as the most-watched television program that night. “Super Millionaire” also delivered the largest audience and highest young adult ratings for the “Millionaire” franchise since May 2001. On each of its five telecasts, “Super Millionaire” was ABC’s No. 1 show of the night among total viewers and young adults.
In “Super Millionaire,” contestants from across the country attempt to navigate 15 multiple-choice questions for cash. The first question is valued at $1,000, with the final question being worth a staggering $10 million. During the February series, the pulse-pounding excitement of big money at stake produced two big winners -- Todd Kim, an attorney from Washington, D.C., won $500,000 and Robert Essig, a computer specialist of Ashtabula, OH, won $1 million with the help of the new “Super Millionaire” lifelines – The Three Wiseman and Double Dip. Robert is the twelfth million dollar winner in the history of “Millionaire.”
