I think that Carrie and Eliza Jane are equally annoying. No reason in particular, they just are. Although, I would've put up with Eliza Janes annoyingness (if that's even a word) just to get close to Manly. ;)

Carrie character was not annoying to me. She was just a little kid. Why can't you guys get off of her character's case? In case you forgot, this show was about Laura Ingalls not Carrie. Lindsey & Sidney were supporting cast members, not the stars of the show. How do you think they would feel if they read all of the negative posts about their acting? How would you feel if it was you? They were little girls when this show aired, what did you expect from them? I'm sure they did exactly what Michael Landon expected of them, so back off.

I totally agree, it makes me really sad when you say bad thigs about Carrie and Iīm sure its really bad to the twins, they always appear on the reunions and they seem just great, donīt deserve this...
For me Carrie is really sweet, specially on the first seasons when she was a baby.. she has soo cute! How can you ignore that? :(

Cath8791 06-11-2005 05:22 PM

I'm pretty neutral on the Carrie character. She was absolutely adorable when she was very small. Unfortunately, Lindsey & Sidney were not given very much in terms of script after Carrie got a bit older. She was more or less in the background, and that made it hard (for me as a viewer) to really get to know who she was as a character or develop any strong like or dislike for her. Why were the twins not given more material? Who knows. It is really anyone's guess. It seems pretty apparent to me that once the Cassandra character was brought on, Carrie's role became less and less. Was that a purposeful move on the part of the producers? I don't know. I know what I think, but that is just my opinion. We all have our opinions on the characters and the actors who played them.

To me, the character of Eliza Jane was hilarious, not annoying. I thought she was a hoot to watch, and Lucy Lee did a wonderful job with that role. Landon was fond of her and took pains to give her interesting material to play. She lucked out that way.

I like Carrie! She reminds me of my little sister; she can be anoyying at time but she is still my little loveing little sister.

TimsGal 06-11-2005 10:46 PM

I feel sorry for the Greenbush twins because I don't believe they were really given a chance. The character of Carrie just wasn't developed. In real life, Carrie and Laura were much closer and Laura seemed to take care of her (Carrie was a frail girl). Carrie was only 3 years younger than Laura, but on the TV show, she never really grew up. Instead of developing her character, they introduced James & Cassandra Cooper, who Charles and Caroline adopted after the children's parents were killed in a wagon accident. I don't think this was at all necessary since we should have been given a chance to get to know Carrie & Grace better. That, to me, is truly annoying.

Also, just to nitpick a little ... Grace wasn't a toddler when Laura was married. She was actually 8. Carrie was around 15, though on the TV show she looks to be around 10.

I know this isn't going to win many friends, but I'm sorry to say that Eliza Jane really annoyed me. Lucy Lee Flippen is so awkward-looking and tall (the real Eliza Jane was average-looking and short) and what's with her voice?? She also acts so prissy and dainty -- not at all like the homesteader (she had a claim shanty of her own) the real Eliza Jane was.

(Thanks for letting me vent! lol)

Tap Dancer 06-12-2005 08:26 AM

I don't care much for either character, but my vote goes to Eliza Jane. She looked like she was always sucking on lemons. And her voice/manners annoy me sometimes. :p

wcragb 06-12-2005 02:11 PM

I think what I found annoying about Carrie was how they kept her in the baby voice and the baby lines. She really never did mature in her portrayal of the character. Compare her acting and character to Laura in the first season when she was really young. A world of difference!

Well, personally I like Eliza Jane. I think she is halerious! And as for Carrie, I have no problem with her, but she did always get the worst lines in the show. I mean in one episode (they show her a lot she just doesn't talk much) she was in almost in every scene, but her only line in the whole episode was:
No, Pa!
lol. I think if she was given a better part she would have turned out a great little actress.

I agree! The Greenbush twins get less credit (now and when they were on the show) then they deserve. Eliza Jane was really annoying especially in Days of Sunshine Days of Shadow. Though she did add a lot of humor to the show and I am sure the real actress, Lucy Lee Flippin is nice. But if you have ever read the LHOP books Eliza Jane is even more mean and annoying.

mgilbertfan103 06-12-2005 10:11 PM

Hey all,
I didn't mean to start a big arguement about this I was just asking. I wasn't trying to be offensive about Carrie or Eliza but some people were like Carrie's annoying or Eliza Jane is annoying etc. Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion.

We weren't ever on her case to begin with. And we didn't forget that it was about PA, MA, MARY, LAURA, and CARRIE. EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO HAVE THEIR OWN OPINION. :D

To mgilbertfan-
You're the only one who is arguing here. Capital letters imply that you are yelling and the fact that you used my quote above your note suggests that you are yelling at me. Is the smiley face at the end supposed to soften the blow?
Don't post if you can't handle the response.

LauraC 06-13-2005 03:02 PM

I myself think that Carrie was a darling little actress. I wish that she would have had more parts and I think they could have had a lot of interesting storys about her. But sometimes they do tend to make her a little bit annoying with her one word responses that most of the time you cant understand. But that is not her fault its the writters. But she really doesn't bother me and she turned out to be a really pretty preteen in some of the older episodes.

Eliza Jane was a hoot. She was a strange little person in Walnut Grove but I think she made the show better.

ILoveAlmonzo 06-16-2005 02:31 PM

It really isn't the Greenbush Twins fault about the way "Carrie" was portrayed in the series. The twins were just children, they were only doing what they were instructed to do. Its just that Carrie wasn't given enough storylines and the character wasn't developed properly. Nobody has said that they didn't like the Greenbush twins, just the way that Carrie was portrayed. She should've been given a more significant part in the series.

Jill930 were all friends here, chill out, don't take it so seriously and certainly don't tell people to back off, thats a little harsh!

So you're saying that capital letters imply that I'm yelling? Not true. What about half capatalizing? Like Ma for instance. Does that mean that you're half yelling? And for you're info I can handle the responses!

Carrie never bothered me,she wasn't on the show that much. When it comes to Eliza Jane I didn't like her.I think she was always to serious and always to pushy. For instance she was being pushy with that guy Harv Miller and he wasn't interested in her, like the way she was with him.Another episode she was being pushy A Wiser Heart on season 8 where Eliza Jane and Laura go to a literature seminar in Arizona and Eliza Jane was fond of the professor. She was rude with Laura about this professor, because the professor was interested in Laura and not her.Eliza Jane really annoys me.

lynn2 06-18-2005 08:46 AM

I would have to say that Nancy bothered me the most. The way that Mrs. Olsen got on with her, and Nancy with her constant, "you hate me". For some reason, i thought her charactor was out of place, and was brought in to keep the "Nellie thing" going. I didn't mind her in the show, but i like the ones that kept her character in the backround, and not a part of the main theme. But on the other hand, she never ruined the show for me either.

Actually, it's pretty accepted in "internet etiquette" that all capital letters is interpreted as yelling. Agree or not, that's how it's viewed. I've seen this emphasized on various, non-LHOTP, website forums. In addition to that, I think it's hard to read a post that is in all capital letters, for some reason. I don't know if others feel this way.
